Course Description:

Fitness Golfer is a comprehensive two-day seminar for physical therapists, athletic trainers and other healthcare professionals. This seminar is designed to teach you how to prevent and treat your client's golf injuries and help them improve their performance on the course by addressing their specific golf conditioning needs. Fitness Golfer is designed and taught by a physical therapist and athletic trainer from the PGA Tour. This unique course integrates biomechanical assessments of the body and the swing, the latest in golf research and the most functional golf-specific exercises that provide your clients with a complete golf fitness and performance program.

Course Objectives:

Following this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe and evaluate the biomechanics and kinesiology associated with all phases of the golf swing.
  • Recognize common golf injuries and the factors which cause them.
  • Learn proven rehabilitation techniques to prevent and treat golf injuries.
  • Perform a complete golf swing analysis and physical evaluation.
  • Recognize common swing faults and their associated injuries.
  • Describe how specific physical limitations of the body will affect the golf swing.
  • Assess static and dynamic posture and how it affects the golf swing.
  • Implement a functional golf flexibility program.
  • Improve motor control and movement patterns for golfing clients.
  • Enhance balance and stability for golfing clients.
  • Construct a functional, golf-specific strengthening program.
  • Describe aerobic conditioning programs specific to golf and how it benefits golf performance.
  • Perform the most current core stabilization exercises used on the PGA Tour.
  • Instruct golfers in a 10 minute pre-round warm-up and stretching routine.
  • Discuss the most current research dealing with golf injuries and golf fitness.
  • Implement a successful marketing program for your golf performance program.

Continuing Education Credits:

Fitness Golfer, Inc. is an approved provider of continuing education for physical therapists and athletic trainers. This seminar is approved by the NATABOC for 15 CEU's. We are currently in the approval process by the PTA for those states where Fitness Golfer seminars will be held. Please call for verification. Continuing education credits will be awarded to participants upon successful completion of the course.
